An Ruins is a 2008 supernatural horror film directed by Carter Smith which probably stars Jonathan Tucker, Shawn Ashmore, Jena Malone, Laura Ramsey, and Joe Anderson. Released in 2008, the American-Australian co-production is based on the novel for this same name by Scott Smith, that may also wrote the screenplay.
Two young American couples - Jason (Jonathan Tucker) and Amy (Jena Malone), and Eric (Shawn Ashmore) and Stacy (Laura Ramsey) - enjoy their visit Mexico. They meet Mathias (Joe Anderson), a German tourist, who is hunting for his brother Heinrich. His last known as location is an archaeological dig for any remote Mayan ruin in the new world. They are also joined by Dimitri (Dimitri Baveas), Mathias's friend. The group reaches generally ruins of a Mayan temple, and who are confronted by Mayan villagers with rifles and bows. Mathias tries to mention their purpose, but the villagers don't understand Spanish or English. When Amy accidentally touches some shrubbery growing more than a ruin, the villagers become increasingly angry. Dimitri approaches the villagers, hoping to appease them, but they shoot and kill your ex to. The rest of the group flees up generally steps of the ruins.
